Summer Vacations

j0441055.jpg Where and how will everyone be spending their summer vacation, I'm sure some will be vacationing closer to home this year with the economy and all. And just in time for summer trips the price of gas starts rising once again, how convenient!

If you have a favorite spot for some good ole summer fun please share!

To many, the Holidays represent a time of giving, to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors etc. a festive and joyous time. To others it is a difficult and troubling time, not only unable to give, but in need of a helping hand. Little Girls who will go without that Barbie Doll, a little boy with no toy truck, a baby without warm clothing. A family without a hot meal or a warm bed to sleep in. This happens right here in our own community. These are difficult situations, I'm sure with the economy as it is today there will be a much larger need. Where do they go for help? What can the community do? What steps would one need to take if they were in this situation? And what should they expect to encounter?

The Protect Our Children Act

Help Pass Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act

Hundreds of thousands of children are victims of sexual abuse each year. Due to the sheer lack of resources, law enforcement is unable to follow up on the majority of leads they have.

The PROTECT Our Children Act will:

Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.
Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators. Act Now!
Your U.S. senators will be voting on the bill soon, so it is crucial you contact them immediately. Before 09/26/2008

MY Space - Good, Bad or Ugly?

After seeing the report on TV last evening about the 12 Y.O. Sumner County girl that met her rapist on MY Space, I thought this would be a good time to bring up this topic on the blog.

What are your experiences with MY Space?
Should there be better security measures that not allow under age members?
What do you do in monitoring under age computer users in your household?

The stories that come out about My Space are horrific, yet some good has come as well, what, and who should be responsible for policing this site if any? Lets hear your thoughts, experiences and suggestions.
