Zoning Rules & Regs within City Limits

By request I am starting this thread

Hi all. I was wondering if you could possibly start a thread regarding zoning issues in the city limits. I moved out here from California almost two years ago, and one of my big draws to this area was the land. So I bought a house and 5 acres, with the intention of allowing my children to raise a couple of animals for livestock shows, and for my family to have a handful of chickens for eggs.

We had asked our Realtor to check the zoning, and she claimed she did (my fault completely for not checking myself.) ~ To make a long story short, I have asked our City Council to take into consideration changing the zoning to allow for livestock with limitations (like the zoning for horses that just went into effect) ~ I am just trying to get a feel for what all of you think. Thanks for listening.

Tanya

Perhaps some of you could shed a little light on this situation and what would be expected.

Animal Control

When is the mayor going to wake up and realize this town needs more than one animal control officer?

I had a run in with a pit bull today that has been roaming my neighborhood. The pit tried to attack my rat terrier when we went to the mail box. The animal control officer is at the doctor today. So WHO is suppose to cover for him? Not the police I was told. What can they do? They are not equipped for this sort of thing.

This town needs at least 2 animal control officers during the day and at least 1 on call at night.

This town needs to ENFORCE the leash law.

This town needs to BAN pit bulls inside the city limits.

If this pit bull attacks my family or my dog who do I hope responsible? I will tell you who: MR. MAYOR AND THE CITY OF PORTLAND.

What can the community do to make these things happen? If you agree with me please give me some ideas.

Thanks

Triplets

triplets.jpg
Above are triplet goats born to one female goat named T.T. owned by James and Diana Zimmerman on East Biggs Road. When I went out to their home I thought I was going to be interviewing the happy family of three human triplets. Instead of being led to a house, I was taken to a stable. The first goat born was a brown male, the second a black male, and the third a white male. They were born July 5.

Below is a picture taken from a really unusual call last Friday. It is a little gross, so if you don't like gross stuff you may want to pass this one by.

I received a call from a gentleman on Austin Branch Road who claimed to have found something most unusual in the road outside his home.
I drove out there and he showed me this mystery creature in the roadway. Here is what he showed me.

He said his dog had been barking all night in the direction of this thing in the road. The rock around it looks like some sort of volcanic rock. A visitor from another planet or just more terrestrial littering?
