"George A Greene Memorial"

Today is the anniversary of my Dad's home going. I know where he is and he is in such a better place right now And I know he is dancing with my Jesus.

Mr Charles Myers told me this would be OK. So, I am asking you for help. I'm not good asking for help. I trust God to take care of everything, but I feel HE is telling me to do this. I hope I'm right. = )

Draft

There has been some talk lately of bringing back the draft. Can our armed forces be fully staffed and survive without it?

Please remember our soldiers this Holiday Season. Their Christmas gift to us this year is priceless. It cannot be bought, wrapped or placed under a tree. It is the gift of freedom, paid for with their blood, sweat and tears, and the many sacrifices they make for us, made all the more precious this Holiday Season. On Christmas this year while we are gathered around our Christmas tree, singing Christmas carols and enjoying unforgettable moments with our family, they will be overseas, alone and fighting for the precious freedom we enjoy. While we sit around our tables enjoying our Christmas feast, please take a moment to remember our soldiers and say a little prayer for them. And remember when our children sleep on Christmas Eve night, peacefully in their beds waiting for Santa to come, it is because our soldiers, past and present. I wrote a poem for my soldiers that I am sending in every Christmas card I write them and thought I would share it with you too.......

Sumner County welcomed home soldiers of the National Guard's Troop L 278th RCT to the National Guard Armory in Gallatin. Below are some pictures of some Portland area soldiers and some of the other reunions that took place.

Media Coverage Of The War

Media Coverage of the War

CNN and other news agencies portray the war….or do they? Yes, we know the death count, and yes, we’ve seen coverage of the few soldiers abusing the prisoners, and yes we’ve seen pictures of the Muslim extremists that want us out of their country. Does the news ever tell you of the work our troops are doing over there? With U.S. Aid, the Iraqi Water Authority is working on a program to dig 1500 new water wells in Northern Iraq. Thanks to coalition forces, Baghdad will benefit from 35 new or rehabilitated fire stations and new equipment. Before, they even lacked the basic equipment to fight fires. What about the plan to construct 150 new health centers across Iraq, or helping local Parents and Teachers Associations and communities to replace mud and reed schools with proper concrete buildings.

Remember Our Soldiers

They give their blood, sweat, tears and time, and some pay the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. They leave behind wives, husbands, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and children to go where they are needed, anytime and anywhere. While we sleep in our air conditioned/heated homes and in our comfortable beds, they sleep in sweltering heat and freezing cold, as the hard ground for their beds. While we gather with friends and family for holidays and birthdays, they are alone with only pictures and precious memories. I feel soldiers past and present should be honored 24/7, not just on the few chosen holidays given them throughout the year. They do a dangerous & sometimes thankless job, with low pay and harsh conditions to give us freedom, which so many of us take for granted. So I just want to say thank you to all the soldiers risking their lives every day, to keep us all free and to the veterans for doing their part to make the country what it is today. They are brave & dedicated men and women and should be honored everyday for risking their lives to keep our country free. And always remember "Freedom isn't free" If you would like to give something back to the soldiers who have given so much for us, go to www.soldiersangels.org
