There is a yellow house at the entrance of Richland Park [on the southeast corner of Portland Blvd. and America's Way]. I'm not sure if they are remodeling it or tearing it down. There are a different City vehicles around the house from time to time. (This morning the city van with the prisioners was there.) Does anybody know what's going to become of this house?

I didn't know where to put this. We didn't have a March thread?
But I was just wondering if anyone else is excited that Congressman Stupak and 11 of his Democratic friends are going to vote against the Obama Healthcare plan because it has wording in it that would provide federal funding for abortion.
I am bothered by the fact that point is not being brought up by the news media. I would like to know stuff like that.
I am excited that there actually are legislators at the Washington level that care about the lives of unborn babies.
Thank you Mr. Stupak. Make Obama take the abortion wording out of the healthcare plan!
Been reading the blog ? LOL
Do you think anything around here will ever change......for the better ???
How's everyone doing in Portland these days?
I thought the Parks Dept. was going to move into the yellow house.
Are Public Works and the Parks Dept. the same thing or are they going to share this space ?
Has this house been owned by the city all along ? Or was this a recent purchase?
I sure wish I had offered them my house for the $1,800 + per month they paid in rent for that other house. No longer than they were there, that seems like a waste of money to me...but what do I know ?
Yes DA you are correct the house is being remodeled and the Public Works Dept will move into it. S. White
How many other houses does the city own. How long has the city owned the house near the park. I know that it's been vacant for the last five years or so. In that time why couldn't they have rented the property and thus brought in a monthly income for the city. The location to the park, swimming pool, and library would have been ideal for a person looking to rent a house or they could have sold it to someone looking for a house with this ideal location. It's a waste of resources to own buildings and not use them.
Judy: Yes, the Parks Department office is currently in the Robert Coleman Community Center in Richland Park. (This is the building just east of Cold Spring School. Some people still call this building the OEO Building.) Everyone: I still am confused about the yellow house. Is it for the Parks Department or the Public Works Department? Thanks. Charlie
From what I gathered at the January Special Called Meeting, the house is to be used for the Public Works (Water Dept) offices. They are currently housed in the brown house across from City Hall. That building was rented by the City when the Lawnlite building idea was rejected. Now they hope to save the cost of monthly rent by using the yellow house, which apparently the city already owned. Public Works will move in as soon as the house is remodeled.
The budget? Man, I'd like to see a print-out of the actual numbers. They seem to change more than the weather. Be sure to watch tonite's exciting episode of "Portland's Budget Woes, Part III"
The City bought another house ? Hmm...ok.
What about the budget ?
Where is the Parks Dept office now, isn't it inside the building at the park near the pool? I think I have been there before years ago, if so what are the plans with the old office locations,, if I remember correctly there are several offices in that building.
The house belongs to the city and they are making it the Parks Dept. office
