Kim,
I answered for my wife, and that was a mistake. She tested last year as well. She suggested that you call the Census Bureau and make sure they have your test results. If they already have your results, you may be getting a call when hiring begins in March. If you know your score from the last time, you can also re-test if you want to raise it higher.

Good luck,

Census Debi's Secretary :)

Kim,
I really can't answer that question. I was only recently hired myself and was unaware that testing had been conducted last year. If you're still interested, you may want to call to see if your results are still in the system. I can't imagine you wouldn't be.

I was wondering if anyone realized that last Friday was the 37th anniversary of the court decision of Roe v. Wade. For those who might not know, that was the court decision that allowed for abortions.

I guess I should take some heart in the fact that not much was made of the anniversary. Maybe that means people are considering the implications of that decision.

I know it is useless to complain, but I just can't understand how people can say it is okay to abort a baby???

I just don't get it.

I have an appointment Wed morning. This job will give me something to do and get me out of the house. The money will be nice too.

I applied for a job last year when they started hiring and am very disappointed to learn that they are just starting to hire now.......why did I take the test last year?????

FYI. The Monday Census testing is cancelled. No enrollees.

If anyone is interested in part time to full time work making $14.50 an hour, plus mileage reimbursement, this might be what you're looking for.....United States Census 2010 jobs. There is an application and testing process to go through first. Hiring won't actually start until late February or early March. So just hang on!!

You must be a US citizen, at least 18 years old, have a valid social security number, take a written basic skills test, have a valid driver's license, and pass a background check.

If you're interested call the Census Bureau at 1-866-861-2010. They will answer any questions you may have, and tell you where and when you can test. FYI, it may take several hours to fill out paperwork and do the test. You can also check out their website at:

www.2010censusjobs.gov (practice tests are available on website)

The work schedule is flexible, and a good amount of work will usually be needed on evenings and weekends when most folks are home. The minimum number of hours you need to work are 20, and a maximum of 40.

Walk-ins are welcome, but calling ahead will ensure you have an opportunity to test when you show up.

Schedule (All testing on this schedule will take place at the First Baptist Church of Portland in the fellowship hall (old section of building).

Oh puh-leeze.

great UTube video of Corey Brewer hitting a three point shot from behind the half court line to put the game into overtime. search google corey brewer sports central or corey brewer UTube

After watching video and reading articles about Lane Kiffin's departure from Knoxville, I couldn't help but ask myself, "How many of those clowns (protesters) can name their senator or congressman? Yes, Kiffin is a classless low life (which should surprise no one since he was a Pete Carroll protoge), but is his departure really worthy of such interest? It's a shame that that type of interest can't be generated when we're selecting our political leadership. I'd be willing to bet less than 10% of those showing up to protest Kiffin's antics bothered to vote in the last election. No wonder our country is in such a mess..................

I was NOT BLAMING or BLASTING Rachel for getting her car broken into, if those comments were directed at me. Police are always telling us ESPECIALLY during the holiday season to never leave your personal belongings in your car. I'm sorry she got her car broken into and her things taken. I understand how unnerving that can be. We had ours broken into several years ago in our own driveway. Luckily they just took some change, but left our CD collection behind (which we thought was rather odd). That being said, my point was why anyone would leave their wallet in a car in this day and age is beyond me. Like she said, the IPod can be replaced. I just hope whoever got the wallet was just wanting cash and does not use the credit cards and ID for more sinister purposes.

Don't you know Phil Fulmer is laughing his head off this morning!

I'm not feeling the love for Lane Kiffin, his father or Ed Orgeron today. Those weasels really set back Tennessee's program.

Tom, I believe that is called blaming the victim, not that unusual in these parts!

I agree never ever leave stuff in your car. If you have something in there put it in the trunk or out of site. this is 1 main reason people break in cars. At night all they have to do is shine a flashlight on it. So there goes the tinted window effect. You may have got it broken into anyway but at least they wouldn't have got your wallet if it wasn;t in there. always lock the doors & never leave stuff in site. You can't go back so just learn from your mistakes. this can happen to anyone. I am just sorry that they got your stuff. I guess they have nothing better to do. But this world is gettting bad and we have to take precautions like never before. Sorry for your bad experience but thanks for sharing on the blog cause it may help others

I can't believe what I am reading. Rachel is getting blasted because her stuff was stolen out of her car???

Yeah, that is what the police said. They said around the holidays there is an increase in this sort of activity. I would say that economy may have had a small impact on it, but the impression that I got was that this is fairly common this time of year.

Not only was it not in plain view, it was in the center console of the vehicle & our windows are tinted. So at night, you would have to break the window or bust open the door to see what was sitting on the driver's seat, let alone what is in the center console.

But breaking into cars happens all the time, not just because of "the economy being the way it is". You prevent yourself from being targeted by not leaving your valuables in your vehicle. If you leave your IPod, cell phone, purse or wallet out in plain view, you have just made yourself a victim. Just my opinion.

I'm afraid that with the economy the way it is now that there will be more and more of this same thing happening everwhere. People are getting more desperate and will continue to do so until some jobs become available.

I have started locking my car every night. Something I have never done. Also I finally gave in and let my husband purchase a pistol. Now he is looking for a shotgun. We will protect what is ours!!

My suggestions...motion censor lights, a pit bull, and guns (lots of guns). You have the right to protect your posessions and property. We do at my house!

What neighborhood?

I am freaking out about it. I don't know what else I can do. It was reported to the police department. They told me that in recent days they have picked up two people stealing out of cars. My neighbors car was hit as well. I am hoping that they got who did this. I am so frustrated with this! I live in a quiet neighborhood, and I know all my neighbors. I really believe that this is someone not from this neighborhood. I don't care about the iPod, I can replace that. I can't replace the wallet or some of the things that were in it. Lastly, I cannot replace the fact that something besides my possessions were taken...my feeling of safety.

Rachel Not to be mean because I would be freaking out if someone got my wallet but that is something that should never be left in a car. I fell the same about my Ipod also. If your car was also egged then it would have to be kids

Rachel, please report to Portland Police and let us know neighborhood so we can help watch, some of us have carry permits and they ( the perps need to know this).

Dear Whomever Is Breaking Into Cars-

I hope you are enjoying stealing from people. Whomever broke into the cars on my street on New Years Eve, I hope you are happy with yourself. I hope that you are enjoying my iPod and my husbands wallet. I hope that you are enjoying ALL of our identification. I hope you are happy with egging my car. I hope that it brings you enjoyment to know that it has damaged the paint on the car. I hope that you are enjoying the fact that you have made my once quiet neighborhood a place where we are always going to have to start watching out behind our backs.

I hope that you are enjoying it, because someday it will catch up to you.

Wow...there is a lot of activity on the blog!

With the new year upon us, I would like to find out how to fix school roads. There is a crater I have been watching form at WHE for a few years now. How does it get fixed ? Can I pay to fix it ? If so, who will maintain it ? That is my personal goal this year as I had to have repair work on my car from last year.

Thanks and Happy New Year !
