Well, the year 2009 is almost gone. Was it a good year or did we have our heads stuck, huh, in the sand and ignored what was happening? What is your opinion?

Please be aware that the recycling bins that used to be in the H.G. Hill parking lot have been moved.
The three drop-off sites are now located at:
1) Public Safety Bldg (Police & Fire Station) on North Broadway
2) City Mechanic Shop on Morningside Drive
3) Street Department Building on Stevison Ham Road.

Tennessee Congressman Bart Gordon, who represents our district, just announced he will not seek reelection in 2010. Click here to read an article. This is a big surprise to me. What does everyone think about this?

As you know, the Portland Christmas Parade was canceled due to lack of entries. For those of you who still want to take your family to a big parade, please consider the Macon County Christmas Parade in Lafayette. This parade will have 100 entries, and there is a big Christmas celebration in Key Park after the parade! All of this was organized by the Macon County Chamber of Commerce. Every time I hear something about "Cap and Trade" on the news, I think of one of Time Magazine's 2002 Inventions of the Year: the Solar Tower.
