Football website looks great!!! I am glad Coach Sanders and his coaching staff recognizes student athletes who have performed well in the classroom. (As shown on the football website) I don’t remember that being done in the past. (If it has then I apologize) Just one more example of great things these coaches have done for our sons. Obviously no one likes the record. However, these young men battle week after week and never give up or QUIT like they have in the past. My son actually likes going to practice and respects his coaches. He has learned a lot of lifelong lessons from this season.

:`-(

I don't understand what all the disgust and anger is about here. Nobody has trashed or insulted the football players in any way. Facts are simply being discussed about the football wesite and about Portland's win/loss record this football season. I don't know where you have been but the latter issue has been talked about in this town since dirt was born. Obviously you have never been in the Panther Den on Monday morning?!

As far as the website, if you were paying attention all season, it has been at least a week behind in updating scores etc.... This time period that you are discussing it not being updated was just after the fall break which could possibly explain the 3 week delay.
For goodness sakes folks, these are kids that are playing their heart out and still showing up, despite all of you fair weather fans! Maybe we should look at these kids when our life gets tough. As adults we tend to spend so much time complaining, being angry, and resentful and throw up our hands in defeat. Not these kids! These boys show up every morning and every evening regardless of what you or anyone else thinks. The boys of Portland High School Football have my support and respect. Never give up!

I find it totally disgusting that you find it humorous to post about these high school football players in this manner, yet nobody has stood up for them, oh but wait, we're not talking about trashy portland here, just our children. enough said!!

TO: QUESTION, ANSWER, RESPONSE, WRONG

ROFL

Whoever runs the Portland Panther Football website is just wrong. Under news and current news story it says this

"The Panthers started the game with a failed onside kick, however, the stopped Mt. Juliet on 3 and out. The Panthers then took it down inside the red zone, but an interception off of a Panthers WR ended up giving Mt. Juliet a 7-0 lead. The game was 14-6 in the 2nd quarter. The Panthers let Mt. Juliet continue to pick up 3rd & long situations on stupid penalties. The score then became 21-6 and the Panthers could not dig themselves out of the grave they built for themselves"

Thats hardcore. These are just kids throwing a football and this clown is acting like this is some life or death activity. Thanks for the encouragement web master.

Yes, the panther football website has quickly been updated with their losses and also includes an article giving Mt. Juliet no credit for their 38-14 win over Portland.

The only team out of that list they beat prior to this year was Greenwood. They haven't had a winning record with that schedule since 2005. This year is nothing new. Whoever updates the website obviously reads this blog because it has now been updated to include all their losses.

www.portlandpantherfootball.com

I forgot Portland was beating those same teams before this year.

You are right. Portland has been playing Greenwood, Greenbrier, White House, Station Camp, Beech and Mt. Juliet the last four years. The only new teams on their schedule are Gallatin, Hendersonville, Lebanon and Wilson Central. Like you said, White House and Greenbrier are 4-A, so the change in classification should not be the main excuse for their 0-9 record.
The Portland staff is probably too embarrassed to update their website.

They are 0-9 and have one game left against Wilson Central who is 1-8 after beating Station Camp this past Friday. It could be a tight game. I agree that they are playing many games out of their league this year but they also played several of the same teams they have been playing the last 4 years and some of those teams are only 4A.

I was wondering what Portland's football record is this season. Website was fired up and ready to go but has stopped updating after 0-5:/ Have they won any games this year. I fear they are now out classed with all those A's.

This is the "SPORTS FORUM" NOT the "Let's argue about Portland Football Forum".

Gee.....Take a chill pill already.

That's not even worth posting. It doesn't truly pertain to the subject at hand.

that joke is at least 30 years old.

Justice in *Nashville, TN* (AP) - A seven-year old boy was at the center of a Williamson County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Tennessee Titans Football Team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

This football junk is exactly why I didn't want to live in Portland. I hope my son never asks to play football, because I won't let him.

This EAST/WEST rivalry is ridiculous. We're making it sound like the East football team and the West football team aren't from the SAME CITY. Hello, people!!! If either team does good the city should be proud.

My child will be at PEMS someday. I will encourage academics over sports anytime. I will not let him play football. We will talk about other sports (unless I can convince my husband to move before then).

I don't think people should be judged on how well them play football. It's what's inside. If East players are showing up at West games in the other teams colors, then that is so sad & disappointing for this town.

From what I know East had 3 or 4 players that were zoned for West but played for East. I think all those players ended up starting for East, so lets not talk about stacking anything, parenting 101

OK, I'm going to have to ask that the name calling and accusations in this thread stop.

Please be respectful and chillllllll!!

I don't know what shadiness you are talking about. One of West's volunteer coaches coached at Portland Middle School last year and his son is zoned for Portland West. Another volunteer coach was helping before the school was going to split, but he was zoned for EAST. Oh, this child didn't even get to play because he was injured all season. Again I don't think this is stacking. West's has another volunteer coach that has a son playing for WEST but was zoned for EAST. It's not West's fault that Mr. Butler and Mr. Bills signed off for this student to come here. There is no one to blame here. I do understand some concerns with this dad coaching. He's supposed to be coaching but hasn't even been on the field the last two games. So as an EAST parent that is frustrating. Maybe Coach Lane learned his lesson with that jerk!!! I'm sick of all you Portlanders talking crap about Coach Combs and Coach Lane. My son has played for both of them and I think they are both great!!! As far as I've know, they are friends and have been working with our boys to come together as one next year in High School. What more could you ask for. I think all of you need to chill with the EAST/WEST thing. Next year everyone will go where they are zoned and no one can say anything about stacking. Please, for the sake of our kids and our town stop this nonsense.

Parent 101, you must really have some issues. I think you are upset because your son isn't getting the coaching the other boys at WEST are getting. I think it's funny you are talking about how honest your coaches are. Please. Some are some aren't. Does West have 10-12 coaches? The last game I was at they only had 4 coaches on the field. I think West has 2 faculty coaches and the rest are volunteers. If those men want to volunteer their time to help those players, what's it to you? Maybe EAST needs that many coaches so they can win some more games. Maybe you should join the coaching staff since you know so much. West has 2 new coaches this year. And one of them was helping before the schools were even split. I don't know either one of the head coaches at EAST or WEST, but I do know some assistants at both. I think you need to get a life parenting 101.

WOW!!! Sounds like someone is JEALOUS!!! I think you are a pothetic human being!!! An immature one at that. I don't think anyone wanted the two schools to split. The kids, teachers, and coaches didn't have a choice. If you want to talk about bad sportsmanship, EAST players showed up at the game Portland West played Shafer and wore green and gold. If that wasn't bad enough EAST players cheered for Shafer and the EAST coaching staff was sitting behind them. That's terrible sportsmanship!!! I don't know either one of these coaches well (Lane or Combs) but I do know recruiting is not allowed. I work for the school system and for an 8th grader to go to West that is zoned for East, Mr. Butler would have had to sign for them to go there and also has to be approved by Benny Bills. So let me guess, you think everyone is plotting to get you? Again you are crazy!!! I'm ashamed of myself that I've wasted my time to get on this blog. I've never even been on it before, but I felt like I had no choice after being told about your crazy comments. About the Homecoming and 8th grade recognition night, what is tacky about recognizing student athletes and their parents that have worked all season. What was wrong with homecoming? I thought it was cute. I wasn't at the game to see it but I saw it in the paper and I read about it. I think what WEST is doing with their Positive Behavior Program is a great thing!!! The paper listed for students to participate in homecoming they couldn't have any In School Isolations or any Out of School Suspensions. The homecoming didnt' recognize all the athletes. Some of the 8th grade students were not in homecoming. I had a family member that was recognized during 8th grade recognition and I thought it was nice. The parents walked them out and the students gave them a picture magnet and a flower. What's tacky about that? I have no idea why you would say it's tacky to recognize as many students as possible. If EAST wanted to have a homecoming they should have. Simple as that. East has always had an 8th grade basketball and cheerleader recognition night. So let me guess, they're tacky. OH No it's not tacky because you kid goes there. I know this is really long but you should be ashamed of your self. Get over your jealousness LOSER!!!!!!!!!!

I guess the STACKING of the teams caused West to win or tie all 3 of it's 7th grade games vs East too.

If a child is attending an out of zone school they have to have direct permission from Mr. Bills, permission from the principal of the school where they want to attend, and permission from the principal of the school where they are supposed to attend. So Mr. Butler is in on the STACKING conspiracy as well. Maybe we should burn all of them at the stake. HA

Both Coach Combs and Coach Lane are working to make their teams better. For goodness sake they both coached together for three years and always seemed to agree upon what they thought was best for the Portland Middle Program. Now that the schools are split one is teaching virtue and the other is teaching corruption. Come on, grow up adults. Both of them are good men, both of them are doing all they can do to make PORTLAND football better.

Just one more time, I would like to state that I too was trying to give a compliment on my specific experience. My son has benefited from this football program! He HAS learned some valuable lessons from this team/coach. I was not knocking ANY other team, just talking about our experience as a family. How this has turned into an East/West thing is beyond me! I was not attacking anyone or anything. For goodness sakes I didnt even mention a win/loss record or stats or star players...if this is all you got from my post "parenting101"(HA) then you might need to take a serious look at your own agenda here! How about instead of throwing slurs my way, why not spend that time encouraging or complimenting your coaching staff..just a thought

I would have to agree that there were some shady happenings going on at Portland West this year. My child plays for Portland East and I have to say that the way the whole split of athletes worked out in the spring was shady at best. I will not get into specifics but i know for a fact that there were a handful of kids that were supposed to go to east and then magically either their father or their youth coach ended up as a coach for west. East may have only won two games this year but i can tell you this. Coach combs at east taught the boys way more than wins and losses. my child has learned life lessons, how to mentally prepare for a game and most importantly live your life in a good way and do things right. I hope for both schools that this "recruitment of athletes" is over and both football teams can get down to what is really important. TEACHING these young kids how to play football and become good young men

It seems everyone has their feathers ruffled parenting, because all I was trying to do was give some encouragement that if there was some shady dealing going on with recruitment, that I think the problem will be solved next year. I do teach 107 kids at the school you were talking about, so even though my child is not there, I thought I could help out by giving you some information I was privy to. You seem pre-desposed to assuming people are attacking you when they are not. Or at least I was not.

You know, lots of people obviously got their feathers ruffled. So about the issue Coach Lame, it was Lame b/c of the way he went about getting certain kids. This isnt the fault of the board rezoning its the fault of coaches. And certain parents....And whos idea was it to have 10-12 coaches not even NFL teams have that many. It must take that many people to come up with 1 play.

I dont know why you even care to comment on this topic you dont have children and have never experienced this!

As far as the stacking of the school goes, I think only the eighth graders this year were given the choice of which schools to attend. If that is the case, then if there was some stacking involved it should resolve itself next year when those eighth graders move on to the high school.

You seem to be stuck on this separation of schools. Take my advice about it, contact your county school board, and City Council. I don't know of any parent that has the power to make a city build and staff a new school. And as far as the Coach purposely stacking the school, well I guess its back to the County School Board again, they are the ones that make the guidelines regarding attending a school outside your zone. So if we want to blame someone for STACKING a school, I guess we have to blame the School Board. Next year at voting time, why not run for School Board and than you can attempt to correct any wrongs you feel have been done upon you. By the way, keep smiling, it is after all only a game.............................

I am sorry that you have some obvious resentment somewhere there. My point of the post was not to knock the "old school" or to downgrade anyone. My point was to stay positive, something that could go a long way here to bring the two schools together. As far as the schools being split, that was not my decision, it is just the cards we have been dealt. So in light of these new changes to Portland, why don't we as ADULTS try to encourage harmony between them, instead of ADULTS wasting their energy on negative comments. This is how we make Portland better folks.

What amazes me is that people think these kids are getting paid!!! Its high school!!!!! They are still learning the fundamentals of the game for pete's sake. Not to mention that every year there are NOT going to be kids 6 foot tall and 220 lbs!!!

"We must win". Montgni, I sure hope you do not have a child on this team and I hope the parents who do have kids on this team do not put as much pressure on them to win as this community does.

I don't think Tucker has a problem reading, as much as some people have typing.

What is so hard to understand? Dont you know how to read. The seperation of schools and the new school being purposely stacked by the coach, is a bunch of Bull. And, the parents that support that are just as shallow as the coaches!

You're really hard to follow!

The only bad thing about the division of the two schools, is that there are people that are at the new one that aren't zoned for that school but were asked to be coaches. Just so they would get a child? Fair doubt it but, About Fairness. no its not the best thing that could've happened because all it did was divide a town and our future Portland High School team. But for all of you that support being a town divided please dont throw stones when you live in glass houses, And the fact that the New school had to have *th grade Recognition after they did Homecoming in which already recognizes the players is very TACKY...

Don't know if I'd say must, but it would be very nice. Who would've thought we'd even be in the Lebanon game, but we were there with a chance to win. Close only counts with hand gernades, but for those of us watching the games you can see a vast improvement in our team from week 1 to now. Yes there are still mistakes. Yes they have been costly, but they are headed in the right direction. Give this team credit for holding their heads high in defeat. Thye've done nothing but lose for four years but yet they come to work everyday and try to get better. I commend them, I should hope you would too.

You're not getting the point!

Well for one I didn't assume any reason they were there, I asked. You are telling me that of all those kids only 15 or so can play? Your child must be one that gets to play. The rest of the kids aren't "good enough" than why are they there? Another thing that upset me was, how do you know I don't devote my time and energy to church (another assumption on your part)you don't know me nor do you know what I do on Wednesdays and Sundays. I am referring to to Friday nights, last I checked there were no services on this night, and ooh yeah lets not talk about all the other church goers there to include ministers........

Do you even know what you're talking about?

First of all, by your comment, you're assuming the coaches purposely choose those "15" players to play while purposely leaving the others on the sidelines.
That would also make it that you assume the coaches would rather lose every game than give players chances to play. That's nuts.
Those players on the sidelines are there for a purpose...They are not very good right now. The "15" we have on the field are the best we have.
And your last comment is the saddest of all..."the hopes of a whole town?" It is just a game.
I wish everyone was as eager to get to church on Wednesdays and Sundays as they are about getting to the Friday night football game.

I would like to ask all of you a few questions. I am not originally from here but have decided to bring my family here. When I was in HS we had more players on the team than 15!!! In watching Portland HS football, I see the same people playing all the time, what is this about? They have personnel on the sideline why aren't they playing, get some fresh players in there. Also we didn't have 3 football teams in one HS, freshman team, JV team, and Varsity. Good GOD people lets have 2 teams, Varsity and JV, lets get some fresh players on the field and quit depending on the same 15 or so kids to carry the hopes of a whole town.

I would just like to take a moment to comment on middle school football here in Portland. My son has had the opportunity to play for the new Portland West Middle School football team. He is not a starter, but he is a member of the team. I am so proud of the boys on this team. They have exhibited great class, sportsmanship, and respect this year. As many of you know, these boys spend 10 months a year practicing for 8 games. They spend more hours with their teammates and coaches than any other outside influence during this time. By God's grace, my son has spent that time with a coach that has taught him so much, so much that doesn't have anything to do with football. He has instilled drive, determination, respect, humility, and most of all, class in his players. The coach that I am referring to is Coach Kyle Lane. All throughout the year, Coach Lane expects and won't accept anything less than our teams best, in and out of school. Respect is always first. This respect has not gone unnoticed. Academics are a close second, my son, because of his respect for his coach, has improved to honor roll status. He has brought out potential in my son the he didn't know that he had until this year. The last that I am going to mention is a sense of belonging. In the beginning of the year (January) Coach stated that by the end of the season, our sons would be family. My son had a hard time believing that this would happen with all the different personalities, this however became fact. These boys are family. Coach Lane, thank you for being a part of our boys life. They will be better men for knowing you!

The facts are that talent is down and they simply are not very good! They haven't been in a few years and the coaches got blamed. 5A-6A... regardless... They once again lost to White House (which isn't 5A or 6A) and what about Greenbrier? The losing will continue throughout the year. If there is a win in sight it is Wilson Central, but I wouldn't count on that.

I believe some good coaches got a bum deal, simply because no one wants to think that the talent just isn't there. There are several coaches that are very successful this year, with it being their first year at their new school. In order to succeed you have to have a variety of factors come together, but without talent you're not going to be very successful. All of that being said, no one wants to look at the nasty truth in that for whatever reason it is, talent is down and the ones in the past who had talent, seemed to lack heart. Now I don't want everyone to think that I am saying no one in the program has heart, but there have been some really talented players that seemed to lack it.

Perhaps we can look a little deeper than even talent or coaching at the high school and look a couple of years back. I could be wrong, but doesn't the downswing coincide with the long-time MS coach leaving? Perhaps that's the piece that everyone is leaving out. Perhaps that's where the character/heart comes from... perhaps the product the coaches are starting with in HS was a little more prepared. This is not a knock on the current middle coaches by any means, I really don't know them. I'm just saying that it's hard to replace someone that's been a part of the community that long and was without question very successful and talented. Not only the coach there, but what about the relationship between the middle school and high school coaches. Are they working together to make the HS program better? Are they trying to implement the same type systems and schemes? This is something that I think is overlooked too often. Just a thought...

Reality Dude…

You need to freshen up on your reading comprehension skills. In no way did I blame Portland’s loss on the number of students in the school or the opponent’s school. Simply stated they played a great game vs. a good 6A opponent. Actually should have won, but turned the ball over 5 times. Congrats to the other sports teams. Perry is doing a wonderful job at Mt. Juliet. Don’t know why you mention him. He turned his back on Portland.

What's funny is that you guys point out school enrollment as an excuse for losing in football. Why do we defeat these schools in other sports? Our volleyball and girls soccer teams appear to be defeating schools of larger enrollments. Once again, Portland lifers doing what they do best, blaming everyone and everything else for their lack of performance on the football field.

By the way, how is Perry doing at Mt. Juliet?

Right!!!

It must have been coaching last year, since this season is going so well. I can honestly say that I don't see a win this season. I'm not sure that it gets a lot better better next year, as so many teams you are playing are young and actually rebuilding...

BUT, hey at least you got some new coaches! Right...

Very exciting game Friday night. Portland should have won but they turned the ball over several times and had a 90 yard touchdown called back. Portland is 5A and Lebanon is 6A. Portland has 1050 students and Lebanon has almost 2000 students. On paper Lebanon should have beat Portland by 30+ Those kids gave it their all Friday night. Portland has come along way since the 1st game. Can't wait to see how they will do next.

Portland will not win a game this year.

It's Homecoming week for Portland High School. Everyone come out and support the Panthers this Friday night as we play region foe Lebanon. Go Panthers!

Then don't make assumptions. Specifically which comments are you referring to?

If I were making assumptions, from some of your comments, I'd assume you'd never seen any game!

Great game tonight Panthers! It was awesome to see some fire on the field. Hang in there, keep your heads up, put the loss behind you and get ready for the Lebanon Blue Devils next week! Fans, keep supporting our guys!

I believe that on any given day, the #1 team in any division can be beaten. There can be a number of reasons for it. Just be supportive of those kids who have to keep up their grades, plus practice, plus (possibly) have jobs. It can't be easy for them. I personally think it's human nature to want to blame someone or something else when you lose, but you just have to decide if the "blame game" is really worth it in the end.

Uh, I did see the game. Quit making assumptions.

Go on at beat that old dead horse! You're exactly right. I heard and read the same quote. If you saw the game you'd understand where he was coming from. Yeah I'm partial to the Purple, and the officials didn't affect the outcome of the game, but many calls would have been overturned if high school used instant replay.

P.S. Go Panthers Beat Bobcats!!

I hate to beat a dead horse, but the following is a direct quote from Portland's coach in the Progressive's article about the White House game: “What I didn’t know was that we were battling two opponents,” the first-year coach added ruefully. “We had to face not only the football team, but also the officials. We didn’t prepare for the officials.” And this from the Leader: "We got frustrated tonight," Sanders said about the game. "We lost our focus. The officials let the game get out of hand tonight."

Sounds to me like the coach believes the officials are at least partially to blame for the loss, don't you think?

Reality Dude....you still don't get it. No one has offered any excuses for the football team. Not the coach, not the players and not me. White House was plainly the best team and if they played again tonight the outcome would probably be the same. As for penalties affecting only close games and not blow outs, what do you think contributes to a blow out. A five yard penality early in the game with no score can change momentum and turn the entire game around affecting the outcome no matter the final score. Better watch a bit more football before commenting on how the game is played.

Big Purple, you are exactly right. How is officiating to blame when you lose by 30 or more points? I could see a questionable call having an effect if the game was 17-16. You are also right about the excuses. They are getting ridiculous. Station Camp, like you said lost pretty much ALL of their starters, especially on offense, and White House lost 16 of 22 starters. As far as taunting, I saw the big Portland flag make its way over to the WH, side, and that is just kids being kids. Now, if I saw a group of 50 year old men, doing that, we'd have something to say about that, but it was KIDS doing the taunting. Kids will be kids. Portland, from the announcers, to the writers, need to suck it up, and quit blaming everyone else, and quit making excuses for the poor play of the Panthers on the field. Geez!

I have to agree that the excuses are getting ridiculous. I don't know anything about blaming crazy fans but I did read that the refs were partially blamed for the WH loss. Gimme a break! I can see that if it were a tight game, but 30 points difference the ref's fault? Then I heard the radio announcers claiming that Station Camp was an experienced team while we are not. That is simply not true. SC lost all their starters on offense. We have several starters returning on both sides of the ball. WH is also a younger team in a rebuilding phase. Then I hear from some of the fans that we just can't be expected to compete in 5A. Hate to burst anyone's bubble, but WH is 4A and SC just stepped into 5A from 3A, so that won't fly either. The Panthers have been outscored by their opponents by about 100 points this year. We play another 4A team this Friday night. Hopefully it will turn out better. If we get outplayed and outcoached, let's just admit it, move on, and get ready for the next week! C'mon Panthers, I'm still behind you! Get after those Bobcats!

Reality Dude needs a reality check. I read the article you refer to and find nothing blaming the fans or officials for Portland's loss to White House. The coaches or players are never mentioned as contributing to this shameful display of sportsmanship. As for the T-shirts, wear and say what you want....just keep it on your side of the stadium.

We stink.

Well, Portland suffers yet another blowout. Wonder how the Portland Newspapers will blame THIS one on questionable calls and the other teams enthusiastic and passionate fans? It's funny how local writers and fans questioned WH's sportsmanship and class when we are just ONE year removed from many Portland (mostly adult)fans wearing "WHITE HOUSE SUCKS" T-shirts at last year's game here.

Well, Portland will have their first region game against Station Camp this Friday night. Could this be the week they turn things around? I understand SC lost a lot of their starters from last year. Hopefully that will translate into a win for the Panthers. Good luck guys!

Well, at least the Devils were generous enough to give the Panthers 2 whole points this week by snapping the ball over the punters head in their own end zone. If WH had executed ALL of their plays, this game would have been much worse. Still the Panthers lose to the White House Blue Devils 32-2. Another long season is on the way.

Panthers - Good luck against the Blue Devils Friday night! Beat down the BDP! Go Big P! C'mon Panther fans, let's get some support going for our guys!

How about that Red Boiling Springs high school football team!! They got their first win in over "6 Years" Friday night!! WTG!! What a fantastic night that must of been for those players. One of the news stations reported that when the team was ahead at half time, which I guess from how it sounded was a rarity, that the small crowd that was there must of started calling everyone and by the time half time was over the team could hardly get back out on the field because the crowd had grown so large. How Cool!!

You're MEAN... funny, but MEAN!!!

Nothing like reliving a 43-0 butt kicking in detail and color!

Wow! Pictures and story from last night's game is already posted on the Portland Leaders website. This is so cool to see and my son was pumped up over it. I hope Curtis continues to do this every week. Go Panthers!!!!!!!!!

This was obviously a tuff, tuff loss. In doing a little research on Greenwood HS in KY they appear to be on their way to the top of their division. Next week's another week Panthers, stay focused & good luck!

CONGRATS to the Panthers for winning their scrimmage game! GREAT Job!

Keep in mind this was left after Darren read all the negativity that was left last year near the end of the season on an old post. He is obviously upset by what he read and rightfully so, how about we try to be more supportive and get back to some good ole Panther Pride!

THIS IS A COPY AND PASTE FROM AN OLDER SPORTS FORUM

i know im just tired of the lack of respect that we receive every year but we'll be ok.the team is looking great and they put alot of effort into practice each and every day,we also have some really great coaches with experience and they believe in every single player..we have a scrimmage against CENNTINIAL ON EITHER WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT EDGAR JOHNSON STADIUM. please come out and support us- DARREN HAMILTON

Darren - Welcome to the blog
I understand your frustration, please understand that many here are true panther fans. They've been just as frustrated as you and your team members have been over the past few years. This town is Panther Football proud and I'm sure many wish you all the best of luck this upcoming season. Please come back and let us know how things are going with the team. Oh... one more thing be careful with your words, great post though!

I read every single one of these comments and frankly im disgusted with the support of the so called "PANTHER FANS" so i see you dont think we have talent huh well theres been ALOT! of talented players in the past but all we have is one"STATE CHAMPIONSHIP" that everyone boasts about like its an everyday accomplishment.......
i see everyones scared because we are in 5A..HA im the one on the field and im not one bit scared. HELL,i wish there was a 10A id play one of those teams in a heartbeat. i have more faith in my teammates than i will ever have in my life because each and everyone works hard to contribute to the football team... and if u think we're scared and cant play cause we are supposedly "UNTALENTED"!!!!! u can meet me on the practice field at any time...oh by the the adress to the field is (600 college street)

If you'll tutor Ryan in math I can talk Jake into giving you golf lessons. At ten years old, he's a very patient instructor. As long as you can handle simple terms like "gumby knees" etc. ;-)

Now Matt, I just got Daniel to shutup about my bad... er I mean MAD golf skills. I don't need you tuning up now.

Tim you should know how kenny feels...you get that feeling everytime we play!!! lol!! Just Kidding!!! I feel bad for Kenny too. This is the second playoff loss in a major. They said in the tv coverage that it took him 3 years to get over the first loss! I hope he doesnt do that again. He should be proud on the way he played the tournment overall cause who really was pick him to win or even be in the top ten!!! Hats off to the way he took defeat and the way he applauded Angel. Good Luck to Kenny in the future!!!

I like Kenny, and he was an absolute professional in a disappointing loss. I watched all but the last two holes (I really thought he had it sown up when Cabrera had two bogeys.

I don't know, but over the whole 18 holes, I felt like Kenny was playing not to lose, rather than playing to win. You might compare it to playing the prevent defense too early in football. I think just kept getting par, after par, after par (which I shouldn't complain since I wish I could do that). But I felt like he thought one or two under would win the tournament and he was not as aggressive as he was earlier in the week.

Ultimately, his strategy might have worked, if he could have just put that putt in the hole. I feel for him. But with the purse second place gets in the Masters, I'm sure he isn't hurting too bad.

It was an awesome match. Too bad he choked in the end. We were all really pulling for him, too. Perhaps next year?

Hats off to Kenny Perry of Franklin KY for his second place finish yesterday at the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, too bad it came down to a 3 man sudden death playoff, but a Fantastic accomplishment none the less! Way to go!
