[This was posted on another thread by PortlandWatcher. I am creating a new thread here for it. Charlie]

Does anyone have an opinion about the City buying the hospital to use for the city offices? I know we need more information..but just wondering what your first thoughts are about it.

Parking at Nashville International Airport

I had to pick someone up at the airport yesterday (11/19/2009), and I had a terrible time trying to get into short term parking. If you haven't been to BNA since they "reorganized" the parking lots, leave yourself some extra time. You'll need it!

According to this list, Tennessee is near the bottom of the list of the most healthy U.S. states. Actually, we are #44 on the list. Pretty bad!

What can we do about this?

Address Confusion (a.k.a. Mess)

Suppose a child needs an ambulance or a fire truck or the police. She's on the phone trying to describe where she is. She's also on a cell phone that's not giving a GPS location. Time is of the essence, but how long is it going to take to get help to her?

I feel very sorry for the E-911 people, the dispatchers, the delivery people, the people who route school buses, the school bus drivers, the post office, the utility people and everyone else who needs to quickly and accurately identify an address and get there.

Quite frankly, Sumner County and the cities within Sumner County have a mess. A few examples:

The Affordable Health Care for America Act

As requested I'm starting a new thread on the latest Happenings on Health Care Reform.

The new House Health Care Bill or The Affordable Health Care for America Act
appears to be a combination of the three prior versions of bills passed by the house. and the cost is a mere $894 billion over 10 years -- below the $900 billion ceiling recommended by the White House. House leaders hope to have the bill on the House floor next week, with a vote, if all goes well, before Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

What do you think?

I found a summary of it at
http://edlabor.house.gov/blog/2009/10/affordable-health-care.shtml

If you would like to read all 1990 pages of the bill, help yourself and follow the link below
