Smile Portland! You're on Google's Street View

StreetView.jpg
Google Maps recently included the City of Portland in its Street View feature, which provides 360° panoramic street-level views along streets inside and outside of communities. To see the feature, go to Google Maps (http://maps.google.com), type in Portland, TN and then hit the Street View button. Recorded streets will appear outlined in blue. Most of Portland below the industrial park and the airport down to Highway 76 is included. Also, most of the rural areas from Portland to White House have been covered. Has anyone seen the Google street cars (1, 2) around? Sometimes people are caught in Street View in not so flattering situations. So what do you think about this kind of information being available on the Internet? It is a fantastic tool that I plan to use to preview my routes before I go to a store or a friend's house in an unfamiliar area. At the same time, people whom we don't want in our community have a lot of information on our homes and communities that they can access at the touch of a button.
Update: A Pennsylvania couple did sue Google for invasion of privacy. Google argued that "because the view of a home from the driveway can be seen by any visitor, delivery person, or telephone repairman" it cannot be completely private. (More here and here.)

Our house number is 116 but google has it as 192. They might have street names correct but forget the street numbers, which is a good thing.

I guess one of the good things is that if you enter our address, it comes up 3 houses away. Some of the map services show our address about 2 blocks away, so this one comes a little closer. I have yet to find one that is actually correct. Could be this is what happens when the street you live on has 3 different names depending on which block you live in?
