Carpooling

With the price of gas people are going to start looking to carpooling.

The biggest need is probably to Nashville and surrounding areas.

If you or someone you know is willing to start sharing the cost to get back and forth to work please post your info here.

If you don't want to post emails or phone numbers here then you can also post at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SumnerCountyBST
There the person can leave you an email.

I finally found a vanpool downtown daily! There are still 2 spots left on the van if anyone from Portland, New Deal or White House is interested in riding. The hours are M-F - arrive at Capital Bldg. app. 7:45 and leave from TPAC at 4:30. The van stops in White House and New Deal. If you are interested in getting more info, contact me at shelly_gregory2003@yahoo.com.
Thanks!

I am amazed that this topic has not gotten more postings! Does anyone know of any websites that match up carpoolers? I have registered with ridesearch.com. With the rising cost of gas, there has got to be other people possibly looking to carpool as well. PLEASE, PLEASE, if you know of anyone, direct them to the blog to post. I have had some responses, but unfortunately due to work times and locations, it hasn't worked out. I can also be reached at shelly_gregory2003@yahoo.com as well if anyone has any ideas!
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
*EVERYONE INTERESTED IN SAVING MONEY BY VANPOOLING READ THIS*
I drive a state vanpool out of portland to Nashville everyday. Yes, you have to be a state employee to ride our van. We all work the 8-4:30 schedule. We leave portland at 6:35 and return at 5:30. I pick up in Portland, Whitehouse, and Ridgetop. Our rates right now are about 60 dollars for the whole month and you can't beat it. Send me an email if you are interested at brownus05@yahoo.com or post here. I have 1 spot left right now and I am starting a waiting list after that. There is another state van that leaves portland earlier but it is full with a wait list.

I also know of other people with different locations and hours looking to rideshare so PLEASE post if you would be interested in carpooling. Some people also have parking benefits which can be a great motivator as well (in addition to saving on these crazy gas prices!). Also, as I understand it, when you carpool or vanpool, the state will give you taxi or car rental vouchers (car rentals for Portland I believe because of distance) to use in case of emergencies (sick children, working late, etc.). You are given 6 per year. Spread the word! Several people may be looking to carpool and just not know where to start looking!

I know there are also vanpools that leave Portland each day, but are all of these ONLY for state employees?

I am looking for a carpool or vanpool from Portland to downtown each day (6th and Union). Leave Portland app. 7:00 and leave Nashville at 4:30. I can ride or drive. Thanks!

What a great idea!! Costs of driving have gotten so horrible, it's wonderful that people are trying to work together to help each other out. Although I don't have to drive long distances each day, I applaud your efforts.

I hope you have a great response to this thread. Good Luck!
