Earthquake
Did anybody else feel the earthquake at 4:38 a.m. this morning (Friday, 04/18/2008)? The earthquake was a 5.4 magnitude centered 41 miles NNW of Evansville, Indiana. I could definitely feel my house shaking mildly for about 20 seconds. If you felt the earthquake, be sure to report it to the USGS: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsus/
I remember a similar earthquake years ago in about the same geographic location. That one caused the dishes to shake in my kitchen cabinets.

It was a reenactment in Richland park about the civil war! My child had a field trip there!

did anyone hear the loud booming around North Russell today? April 25th. A lot of what sounded like things dropping or maybe far off explosions. Anyone know what that was?

We felt it ...at first, we thought there had been an explosion somewhere closeby, because of the sound and then everything upstairs was rattling...and we had no idea...and then we thought.......could it have been an earthquake ???
Turned on Channel 2 and sure enough ! It was !!

Wow! My entire family slept through it. I guess we are some hard sleepers. Of course we live close to railroad tracks so we have probably adjusted the the house rumbling.

Felt it also, My husband was up at this time which is normal for him, I remember my legs trembling in bed, being still asleep thought I was having muscle spasms and tried to hold them still then the dressers started rattling and the Grandfather clock going ding, ding, ding.... The Grandfather clock is not working with the pendelum disassembled, it was rattling it so bad the chains were swaying inside the clock and hitting the pendelum that was laying on it's side. I thought hubby was being very forceful in taking out the trash and was gonna tell him later to take it easy on the trash can... LOL He said the blinds and dishes in cabinets were rattling, he thought it was a tornado coming till he walked outside and realized there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Actually thought I was having a weird dream until I got up and saw it on the news. This was a first for me.

It woke my husband up. Not me. He has always said I could sleep thru an earthquake so we now know that is true.
At first he thought someone was trying to break into the house when he heard the windows rattling.
I remember the one from 1968 also. If I remember correctly it happened on a Saturday.

Yes, woke us too. The thought crossed my mind of an earthquake, but I really had no idea. I was thinking more of some kind of explosion. I was born and raised a little more than an hour south of the epicenter for this one and most of my family is still there. I have vague memories of the one in 1968 there (I was only 6 at the time). Most of my family just happens to be visiting in Texas this morning, so they actually missed it.

Yes, we did! Woke us up, took a second or two to figure out what was going on. Wow!
