Good Morning. This is my very first post. Thank You Charlie for allowing me to participate. My name is Lee and my wife is Shelia we have been married 38yrs (I think) and we have 2 children (22yr old twins) our son Alex is in the Air Force station in Oklahoma City and his sister Brianna is slightly handicapped and will be moving to Portland with us. We are very lucky that we can retire at 58 at the end of March. We currently live in the central valley of California and will be moving there in April. We have a Motor Home and love to travel and see the sites. Well thats about it for now I just wanted to introduce my self. I look forward to reading and participating in this blog and learning more about the wonderful town of Portland Tennessee. Yes we have already bought a house on the north side of town. Once again thank you.....

Well there has not been much added to here in a while. If someone reads this can you tell me where I can go to get some help unloading a truck load of our stuff when we arrive there on or about the 4th week of April? Thanks Lee
Thank You Councilman Callis I passed this information on to the head of the household (my wife)... My daughter is having a hard time with us moving and I would love to get her involved with others. She is afraid she is not going to make any friends and she won't fit in. Thanks Again
Lee,
Contact H.A.T.S. in Gallatin when you get here.
They can help with your needs.
They work with and help place adult individuals with challenges.
HATS stand for Habilitaion And Training Services. They even have a couple homes in Portland.
Sharon you may have misread my post. My daughter (who is 22) is special needs and we will be looking for some kind of Assisted Living for her (Maybe). However a camp outing may be just the thing. We are getting so excited about coming to Portland and starting a new chapter in our book.
SG are house is in the Northview Estates which is off 109 North of Portland...
born here moved away to texas 30 yrs guess what im back so welcome to portland i have a special need teenager that goes to camp maybe your aunt would like to attend let me know
Hi there! I just wanted to also say welcome. I have lived in Portland for several years (although born and raised in Sumner Co.) and we love it. We just moved in September to the north side by the KY line and we love it in this area(and yes, I have cable internet:). I just wanted to say "welcome neighbor" and have a safe journey to your new home!
Mike 9/16 is more then 1/2 so we will have plenty of room I am pretty good at backing up.. Ha ha ha
Don & Lolita we are moving from Modesto (Central Valley Area). We are moving north of town towards Ky up 109 and they are saying that we will have cable internet. I would e-mail you but I don't know how.. I am real new to this blog
Thanks Lee and my better half Shelia
Lee & Shelia,
Welcome to Portland. Lolita and I have lived here exactly nine months come March 1st and we really like the area. We also moved from California (San Diego) and there is quite a bit of difference between the two, most for the better. Since you will be living in town you should have good internet service, but get a little out of downtown and you go back to the stone ages.
If there is anything/questions regarding Portland/California we can answer don't hesitate to email us.
Don & Lolita
Lee I am not sure your 33ft motor home will fit in our town.
I will step outside and measure............
Your in luck, our city came in at 33 9/16 ft..;)
Let me know when you get here and anything we can do to help.
Well Bella we have found the same thing about the people we have been in contact with.
Ha ha Councilman Callis my house is empty right now and my CEMC bill was really really HIGH (so I thought) we called CEMC and they explained everything and the weather change was one of them.
We are looking so forward to being there. If you see a 33ft Class A Motor Home with a HHR in tow thats us driving to our house in north Portland...
Welcome - Bella, another Floridian transplant, just like me!! 30+ yrs in S FL.
Welcome to your family also.
If the weather in town is not to your liking just wait about 10 minutes and it will change....;)
Portland is a fine place to live.
Lee, Hope to meet you in Portland. My husband and I are moving there on March 1st. Looks like everyone wants to live in Portland. So far, through telephone conversations, I feel as if I know a few people already. All the utility companies have been helpful. Phone calls are always answered... information given freely. We can hardly wait to get there.
Happy and safe travels.....see you in Portland. I suppose we will stand out like sore thumbs. You with California tags and us with Florida. People must think we are crazy leaving warm weather for the cold. See you soon.
Just wanted to welcome you and your family to Portland. Hope you enjoy it here.
Lee, Sheila and family -- welcome to Portland. If have only lived here 4 years myself. I really do enjoy it. Hope you all have a safe trip from CA and an easy transition into this "good ole' country livin'."
Welcome to our city.
I think this is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
If I can help in any way, please email me.

Thanks,
mike
Thanks for the welcomes we look forward to the small town and hope to join in on some of the activities that happen. I have been watching Portland for about a year. I have read about The Portland Panthers and love Purple haha. What drew us to Portland? To be honest with you it was our Real Estate Agent. I also have a friend who lives in White House who recommended middle Tennessee.
Welcome
Portland is not to bad of a place. Just hope you don't mind driving 20 minutes to get a nice meal or to go to a real Grocery store, movie, Shopping, or get your car serviced.
You did say you liked to travel so maybe this is what you meant.
WELCOME!! Wow, that is quite a move you're about to undertake. I hope you find living in Portland to your liking.
Lee, Shelia and Family - Welcome to Portland, hope you enjoy our town. Welcome to the Blog! Have fun and happy posting!
