Goodbye Daniel.....
Daniel has been a good friend to me and to this community. Even though our politics differed quite abit, he was always fair in his reporting.
He immediately took an interest in our town and was always there to contribute.
Daniel participated in this blog and always brought some intersting ideas and always he brought his conviction.
This thread would be a good way of saying thanks and good luck to all that he does.
Thank you Daniel and may God bless you,
mike

No he wouldn't. He doesn't hate the poor or people of color.

He'd vote Republican.

Pastor,
Do you have a NO DEMOCRATS OR ANY OF THEIR KIND sign out in front of your church? WWJD?

Lol Tim, that was priceless. But you see my conservative friend, in golf the person with the lowest score wins, and in basketball the one with the highest, I know you've got that mixed up. I'll miss you to, come on up to Louisville and we'll hit the links up anytime. with Obama in office, we'll probably have more money to spend!

The truth has yet to be revealed as to why Daniel is moving to Louisville. As much as it pains me, I feel compelled to reveal the true reason since I bear some responsibility.
You see, Daniel came to Portland as a poor, naive Liberal bent on trashing the President every week in his editorial (ya know Daniel, other things do happen in the world). He came to Portland sure in his political views, basketball skills, and golf expertise.
You see, then he met me.
Over the past year or so, I have so utterly devastated Daniel's political arguments, and so humiliated him on the basketball court and golf course, that he must flee. He actually told me he was going to vote for Romney in '08', so he has to retreat to the Liberal confines of a city like Louisville. It's a shame really. Right on the cusp of enlightenment and he's throwing it all away.
In all seriousness, Daniel, I'll miss my golf/basketball buddy. I don't know what I am going to do now that I don't have a token Liberal friend. Maybe I'll make a reality show out of my search for your replacement. Everyone else is doing that these days.
Best of luck Daniel.

Apparently Daniel is not the only one leaving the Progressive. I heard that the publisher, and the sales staff has left the paper as of last Friday. Some other folks left the paper just before Christmas. Just wondering if anyone knows whats going on there at the paper.

I appreciate all of you and I will keep in touch. You guys gave me a lot of great ideas for stories and keep in mind that reporters are always checking this site because it's where to find out about the news.

Daniel,
I am sorry to see you go, even though we got in to some very heated debates on many occasions, you helped me to see that there is more than one point of view for everything, hopefully I have somehow left you with something positive.
It will not be the same wihtout your input, although I suspect there are computers in Louisville and I am sure you will check in fron time to time.
You have gained my respect. Take Good Care and Good luck.

I, too, wish Daniel nothing but the best. As others, I haven't always agreed with his political views. However he always had a good argument, is well versed and always willing to discuss topics! He will be missed. Daniel, good luck in your new venture!

Daniel
Best of luck to you in your new venture, I haven't always agreed with your views but respect you for expressing them especially when they may not be what everyone wants to hear. I feel you have brought alot to this community with your insights, ideas, your support and your dedication to journalism. You will be missed by many, may your future be filled with great rewards. PS: Too bad your new job isn't in Miami, the Dolphins could use someone with a real backbone! teehee:)

Mike,
I really appreciate your words and the fact you have never kept anything hidden and have always been available for information and a comment. I have loved my time here in Portland and the leadership here will help the city to continue to grow in the right way. I wish I could have done more and I will keep in touch. Good luck to everybody!
