Dealing with a Bully
My 6 year old grandson has 2 bullies in his classroom and a 4th or 5th grade bully on the bus.
My grandson has been taught to tell a teacher when he is threatened or bothered by a bully but is this the best way to handle a bully. His teacher, just today, told him not to be a tattletale.
Does a bully learn this behavior at home, from TV or video games or does it just come naturally?

Director of Schools Causes Uproar
In this week's The Portland Progressive, Josh Nelson reports on a hiring decision made by the Director of Schools, Benny Bills, that has the School Board, as well as the County Commission in an uproar. Commissioner Cummings even went so far as to suggest, "I think we need to consider getting a new Director of Schools."
It was reported that less than 11 hours after the school board created a new position by combining two departments, Benny Bills had selected, and hired Steve Nichols as the Assistant Director of Schools for Faculties.
Mr. Nichols is the husband of Rachel Nichols who is the Sumner County Finance Director.
While many believe that there will not be a "conflict of interest", they are basically stunned that the position was filled almost instantly and that Mr. Nichols reported to work the following morning.
Even after reviewing Mr. Nichols' resume, many disagree that he is properly qualified for the position. This is based on the education and experience the Board had determined that the ideal candidate would possess.

Blog Questions / Suggestions your thoughts needed
A couple months back I started a weekly thread for "Around the town" as suggested by a fellow blogger, this has worked out fairly well for general discussion. The administrator of the blog, Charlie has said he would like to see more specific threads as well brought to the blog to allow for topics to be more focally in line to a specific topic. All for it!
A recent poster has noted that they don't like the weekly "Around the Town" threads because it bumps other threads down the page too quickly. This is the way this blog is set up and to the best of my knowledge it cannot be set up any differently.
What I am asking is
Do you want the "Around the town" posts discontinued?
Is there another way we could accomplish keeping more up to date information up front? NO, other than not starting any new threads.
One of the things I thought of is maybe making a MONTHLY posting for
Around the Town - Sports - City Government - Schools and any other general specific topic that may be needed for monthly communications. Different authors would each take a topic they would start. We would still have other specific topics too that will come around from time to time and they will still get bumped down the page, maybe just not as fast.
What are your thoughts on any of this and do you have any other suggestions. Please post them here.
