Soon to be Kroger?

One of the comments on this blog referred to Food Lion in Portland as "soon to be Kroger." Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks.

I don't know about the Kroger rumor....I really doubt that Kroger would come to Portland. I wish, though.

I would LUV to see a Kroger go in inplace of Food Lion. We just moved here from Hendersonville and omg, I am missing all of the up to date stores. I am diving to franklin, ky. right now and I so hope Portland does some growing SOON!

I would like to see it change to Kroger because I am a member of Upromise. A college savings place for my children and anytime I shop at Kroger they put a percentage of certain things I buy in this savings. Food Lion does not participate in this.

We shop WalMart in Franklin and usually stop at KFS (Old Cracker Barrel building) for our meats. Should Franklin ever ket a Kroger I will make the swap. I love Kroger, but cant justify paying higher taxes and higher prices in White House.

I haven't heard anything about it. I shop at Wal-Mart for most of my groceries, and then I buy my meat at HG Hill. I don't like buying the pre-packaged meat at the other stores. I want meat that was cut and packaged by people that I can actually see.

Walking in to Food Lion is like stepping back in to the 70's......do some updating.

It would certainly make sense to have a Kroger in town with the company's warehouse in our industrial park.

I hope it is true! Food Lion just does NOT have enough variety. Went there one day to get some Idaho potatoes and they didn't have any. I don't like their meat selection either.
