Drake's Creek

Can anyone tell me where the water in Drake's Creek originates? (Obviously, it has nothing to do with the Drake's Creek in Hendersonville as that is way lower than Portland!)

Historical marker 3A 171 "Fountain Head" talks about a "large spring" near Drake's Creek.

Is the spring the original source of the water? If so, is there a way to walk or drive to see the spring?

Just curious. Thanks!
Charlie

living here you need a water treatment system installed in your home. they are somewhat exspensive but well worth it. i had a professional co. come to my house and test my water, the crap in the water in this town is unbelieveable. dont believe that the water is ok, its not. the chlorine content in the water is more hazzardous than the funk in it.

I think Drakes Creek flowing Northward near Portland originates with a spring in or near the tunnels at South Tunnel. A number of other springs contribute to the tributaries from there. Other local folks can attest to the accessibility of the headwater spring.
