Portland watches, reads October Sky
Portland residents crossed the Kentucky-Tennessee state line to visit the Franklin Drive-In to watch the movie October Sky. The Elmer Hinton Memorial Library and the PortlandTN.com website sponsored the event as part of a city wide book read of the book Rocket Boys or October Sky written by Homer Hickam.
Also, Jennifer Kiper's class at Portland Middle School is reading the book. Picured are Jared Barber and Katie Legge.
