Remember Our Soldiers

sleepinginmud_300x197.jpg
They give their blood, sweat, tears and time, and some pay the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. They leave behind wives, husbands, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and children to go where they are needed, anytime and anywhere. While we sleep in our air conditioned/heated homes and in our comfortable beds, they sleep in sweltering heat and freezing cold, as the hard ground for their beds. While we gather with friends and family for holidays and birthdays, they are alone with only pictures and precious memories. I feel soldiers past and present should be honored 24/7, not just on the few chosen holidays given them throughout the year. They do a dangerous & sometimes thankless job, with low pay and harsh conditions to give us freedom, which so many of us take for granted. So I just want to say thank you to all the soldiers risking their lives every day, to keep us all free and to the veterans for doing their part to make the country what it is today. They are brave & dedicated men and women and should be honored everyday for risking their lives to keep our country free. And always remember "Freedom isn't free" If you would like to give something back to the soldiers who have given so much for us, go to www.soldiersangels.org

I had posted on Aug. 16, 2005 about my husbands truck being stolen from bucklodge while he was deployed.........well thanks to a wonderful honest man who had purchased the truck not knowing it was stolen .....we were able to recover the vehicle. However.....the thiefs had modified it to such an extent it was no wonder no one ever saw it. It had been in the Portland are the whole time. Thanks again to everyone who was looking for it. By the way husband and sons are all deployed again but doing very well.

Sorry to hear about your troubles!! I have so much respect and gratitude for our soldiers, as do many of the people I have come across lately. So when you get angry about what you've been going through, try to remember the people who support, encourage, and appreciate his service to this country, rather than the few who don't. I just "adopted" a solder from Soldiers Angels, and its so rewarding finally being able to give back to men and women that have given so much! I send letters and care packages to my adopted soldier and its let them know that there are people over here who care and support them unconditionally! They make a huge sacrifice and this is a small way to say Thank You for all they have done!!

My husband, Sgt. Bill Houser (USMC), has spent most of the last 4 years overseas mostly in the persian gulf. I am so greatful for all of his sacrifices. We are proud to call Portland our home and "Portland TN" is even painted on the side of an F-18 fighter jet. Here is the sad part. While my husband was deployed someone stole his 1969 Chevy truck from our farm in Buck Lodge. This was the icing on the cake as our home has been broken into several times and practically destroyed by the former renters. I cannot understand what kind of person could do this to someone who gives so much of himslef to protect our country.

Freedom is more precious then we think. We take for granted our running water, lights, air conditioning, fast-food, TV, and ease of life we enjoy everyday.
Our freedom comes at a heavy price.
Thank You to all who serve now and have ever served.
My life is made easier due to your willingness to serve this great country and to sacrifice your life for us all.
May God Bless Our Military.

Thanks jc for posting this...I work for the military and have seen this several times, but I like to be reminded just how rough our guys have it over there...I have several friends, former co-workers that are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan now...I pray for their safety. Everytime I hear myself complaining about the weather conditions I try to remember these pics and be greatful for all that I have. To suffer a little heat is nothing compared to what our military guys go through...Oorah!
